JULY 9, 2024

The Board Meeting was opened with Bette Dillehay reported that Carolyn Taylor would not
be in attendance. Those in attendance was Deona Pavik, Dana Brown, Michael Miskovsky,
Rob Quartel, Alexis Foster and Joi Ball.
Deona Pavik led the balance of the meeting.
Minutes were approved by all.
Bette gave her report noting that operational expenses are at a 5.6% decrease from one year
ago for the same period. The County in its Budget for the year has passed that a $15,000 decrease
for the Library.
In order to make more room available for new books a process is being done to weed out all
books not been read within last 5 years. These books are being giving to other groups that
can make better use for these books.
The Hot Spot Program is active especially during Tourist season. The current count of patrons
also goes up during this time.
The summer programs are well received in the community. In June the Ambrosia Quartet performed,
in July a brass quartet from the Virginia Symphony and in August there will be
a quartet form the Williamsburg Symphony.
The Highland Games ( for 20 years) was well attended with 35 young people. Then June 24-28
the teen program included animal rescue to newspaper reporting. Only 6 teens attended
but enjoyed by all. Another youth program will be visiting the Virginia Fine Arts and traveling
by Amtrak to Williamsburg.
Joi stated that 2 Little Libraries were provided. Acknowledgment of all the great work that
the volunteers give to make the BookStore available to the county.
Bette passed a thank you note from Norfleet Lewis for the $1000 scholarship from the Library.
A new trustee needs to be appointed to replace Carolyn Taylor.
Under old business —- No news about the Pergola!
Adjournment was at 5:50 pm.
rNext meeting will be on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024.
Respectively submitted,
